I always think I LIKE to paint...

and then I decide to paint a room and think...man...spray painting is SOOOO much easier!

I've had a splitting headache all day - i'm guessing due to the weather change since Hurricane Earl has moved on...Aleve works on my migraines and it's only dulling this sucker. Blech...so when you feel like crap, why not paint! Yeah...why not indeed...

Mr. Paisley actually expressed interest in a paint color (much to my surprise)...and since he NEVER does that, I went with his pick. That's a first...

Behr's Toffee Crunch. I like it on the paint chip...when I left him unattended at the paint counter I didn't check on the paint color until I took it out of the bag at home. Hmmm...frankly, it looks like the color the walls are already...which is NOTHING like the color chip.

Ok, well I can always take it back and have them make it darker or whatever. Sooo we move all the furniture out onto the front porch. Livin' it up redneck style! Upholstered sofa and chairs on the porch baby! Someone find me a blue tick hound and a can of Natty Lite.

Mr. P pours the paint in the tray and i'm still not sure about it. We start to do all the cutting in and i'm positive I don't like it. Then I look around and it's not bad. It dries like TEN shades darker...much more like the paint chip. All is well. Mr. Paint Guy tells us we have to let it dry 6 hours between coats. Really? No one has ever told me that before...

So without dragging this out any longer...here is the Paisley Cottage Living Room as it sits tonight. One coat of Toffee Crunch.

The trim and the tiny little crown molding will be going Traditional Ivory (snazzy color name no?) I'm not really sure what the current color is. Whatever I picked out in 1997...LOL Yeah, it's LONG overdue for an update! Slowly working our way thru the cottage with all new colors.

Looking at these pictures, i'm wondering if this color is too much gray to it...I'm a fall color palette kind of girl...

I have these sheers to replace the cream colored sheers with the embroidered palm trees that used to be up in there...I think I need some colored panels this time...not just sheers. Anyone want to suggest a color / fabric for that?

My plan is to slip cover the vintage oriental print sofa (which you can see a little bit of in the 2nd paint photo) - maybe with a drop cloth. I don't want my formal living room to be formal - just comfortable.

Nice color. I'm jealous of how smooth your walls are. The texture on mine looks like someone threw oatmeal on the walls and left it to dry. It's very hard to paint.

I need to get to the paint store and get some samples of the colors my kids have picked for their rooms. I've declared the week of Thanksgiving as painting week. I'm totally freaked out by the idea of it but it needs done SO badly. I love this Toffee Crunch color!

Thank you! Funny you should mention how "smooth" the walls are. Mr. Paisley was just complaining about the texture. It's not a lot of texture, but more than just roller nap texture. He says "texturing walls is a sign of crappy drywall work" - probably true. Easier to cover it up with a little texture than to get it perfect. Mr. P of course is a perfectionist when it comes to those things. The hall bathroom he re-drywalled last spring is indeed perfectly smooth.

The Toffee Crunch is looking much better this morning. We had to go pick up a 2nd gallon this morning. Who knew a 12x14 room would take 2 gallons of paint where there isn't a single unbroken wall?!

Back to my roller...more photos to come of course :-)

I love the color! Really like the gray tones that I see in the pics.
