Today's thrifty score - two birds and a cake stand. Mine for $11 and some change. I love to pop into the local thrift store (or as my mom and I call them "the junk shops") and I think i'm lucky because we have so many! Goodwill, Resale Shops, Salvation Army, Community Thrift, Church thrift stores, Go Green stores - fabulous. Of course they're always hit or miss, but i'm all for the thrill of the hunt (like that $4 cookbook I can resell on eBay for $50) or home decor - because I get tired of stuff quickly and like to change it around. I don't want to pay $100 for a metal bird that I want to change out in 6 months. Nope - i'm more of a $3.99 metal bird kinda girl. Why pay full price if you don't have to?
My husband is currently fascinated with owls. Why? I blame gorgeous internet sensations Molly, McGee, Max, Wesley, Austin, and Pattison. What? You don't know about Molly and her crew? Well check out their story here.
I spotted this owl as soon as I hit the "housewares" section at the back of the store. Perfect for the garden - he's all metal with a heavy weighted base. Yep...$3.99. He has blue marbles for eyes.
Then I was drawn to this primitive metal crow! It's huge! I thought it would be a great quirky addition to the cabin. Maybe on the mantel, maybe on one of the shelves up over the windows - either way he's plenty big enough NOT to get lost! Seriously - how cute is he? All $3.99 worth of metal and chippy paint. Love him!
Then I spied this pretty little cake stand for OMG $2.99! Sold. No chips, no scratches, not too fancy, not too plain. Check out that scalloped edge!
That's what got me. I'm a sucker for a scalloped edge.
Oh and I didn't pick this up today - i've had it a couple of months, but I got it at the same Goodwill store for $6.99 and I HAD to have it. It looked familiar...Do you recognize it? It's an $89 Pottery Barn Vintage Inspired Post Card Table Top Display...yes yes yes...very happy with that $6.99 purchase. It will have a home in my craft room. As you can see, it didn't take long for me to dig out my blank cards to "test" it...

I am envious. Not only of your wonderful finds (they are fabulous) but also of the number of stores you have to browse.
