Each season there's a new something or other at the entrance to our "neighborhood" where the cabin is - currently, it's a bear made from tree bark. I would guess it's about 12' tall. In the past there has been a snowman, a bunny (well, the snowman gets a makeover...bunny ears, carrot nose, basket, etc) and a couple of other things. Always interesting to see what they come up with.
Remember the rocking chairs? The ones my most favoritest auntie in the world re-painted for me? They were a rather nauseating raspberry pinkish purple color.
This is not the best photo in the world (cell phone) but evidently I never took photos of them prior to them being repainted. This is one my auntie snapped before she started painting. They looked great sitting in front of the fireplace when we rolled in during the wee hours of the morning. Then I took them out on the deck to check them out with my new outdoor rug...oh boy...(ready to laugh Alyce? it's funny!)
Note the purple streaks on the rocker...
And between the seat slats...
And where they didn't get painted at all LOL
Or just got a little dry brush action...
And here's one that I spray painted with Rustoleum Colonial Red - next to the other one that was painted with a brush...in a dark cabin.
Yes, I still need to finish around the Cracker Barrel tag (I didn't have a tiny screw driver to take them off - on my list for the next trip).
Before we left we moved them on to the screened porch...i'm still not sold on leaving stuff out on the main deck. I don't trust "Jerry".
Goodbye raspberry!
Pardon the jacked hot tub (we didn't get to it this trip...we were planning to have it ripped out and fix the deck below it if there was anything rotted - gotta wait for October now) - and the fact that I took the photo thru the screen (oh come on...texture is a good thing). I picked up the pillows at Old Time Pottery for $.75 each when they were closing the store near my house. They're red, white and blue striped canvas...perfect for my rocking chairs don't you think? In some of the photos my red looks very "cherry", it's not a bright shade of red. I really do appreciate my aunt painting them! The colors were really hard to differentiate indoors with the lack of natural light and well, less than stellar overhead and task lighting. Definitely NOT a good combo for this painting situation.
I should have taken a photo...but your very own genius blogger here spray painted them wearing flip flops...and I looked like I had sunburn on my feet. Yep...the over spay had COATED my tootsies. I used half a bottle of nail polish remover trying to get it off (vacation house...not fully stocked with everything i'd have within reach at home). What a mess...

I love that raspberry color and the pillows are perfect. :-)
Love the colors... I saw a rocking chair similar to that at a thrift store yesterday--only $14.99, it needed some TLC and a new coat of paint.... I should have gotten it! ;) Thank you for participating in our "Show Off Your Cottage Monday" and letting us into your home...

I love the new color. Spray paing is so amazing! I have been using it a lot lately. Thanks for sharing your story and pictures, great texture in your photos by the way, your post made me smile.
