We made it through week 1 and it's getting easier by the day. I don't know about Mr. P., but I'm not having any cravings. If I think about a specific food that I can't have, they yeah, I'm all "man I would really like a chocolate shake!" but that's not really an issue.
This morning I got up and fixed my breakfast and lunch to take to work and somehow managed to leave my salad on the kitchen counter. So I had my chicken salad for breakfast (today it was chicken, mayo, quartered green grapes, 1/2 a Fuji apple and a couple of broken up walnuts). I have to say, the walnuts were not the best addition - should have eaten those whole pieces separately. I ate a mixed fruit cup (in 100% juice) along with it.
Lunch time was when I realized my salad was MIA. I had a sweet potato, some baby carrots and salad dressing - with another fruit cup. That wasn't going to cut it. So I ordered Outback online and ran down to pick it up. Repeat of Day 6 lunch.
I snacked. You're not supposed to snack. I ate too many dates. They were delicious. I told myself they're off limits on Friday.
Dinner was compliments of Mr. P. He made some seared Mahi with the usual dinnertime veggie mix (frozen variety anyway). I'm really not a huge fan of fish. It was fine. I didn't dislike it, but it isn't something I will be craving. It's fish.
Here's the recipe. Seared Mahi Mahi with Zesty Basil Butter (sub clarified butter)
I also had a 24oz Tervis Tumbler filled with ice, then cranberry juice. I was watered out today.
Notes:
A week in and I think my body has adjusted to the ridiculous amount of water I have been consuming. I haven't had to get up the past two nights and I'm not running down the hall every 30 minutes at work! Progress I guess. I drank a lot of water before and wasn't in and out of the restroom all day. Maybe it was the sodium and chemicals in the Diet Coke and non Paleo foods holding on to water and now it's just flowing straight through.
Sunday I will be making up salads for the entire week (minus Monday because it's Outback day with the boss) and I will make a big batch of chicken salad vs. making it every morning. I haven't been on time to work since this started - I have a lot to do in the mornings as it is.
